MISA Technical Bursary Scheme
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is a government component operating under the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta). Established in line with Section 7(s)(c) of Schedule 3 of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended), MISA plays a critical role in strengthening the technical capacity of South African municipalities. Its core mission is to support municipalities in the efficient planning, delivery, operations, and maintenance of infrastructure, ultimately enhancing service delivery in local government. MISA is committed to empowering youth through academic development, especially in the built environment sector.

MISA invites qualifying students to apply for bursaries in the following undergraduate disciplines:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be a South African citizen with a certified ID copy

Have a certified Grade 12 / Matric certificate or latest academic records if currently studying

Provide previous year’s tertiary results (for continuing students)

Submit proof of registration or acceptance into a recognized institution (on official letterhead)

Provide proof of residence and enrollment form (if already studying)

Household income must not exceed R600,000 annually (affidavit and/or proof of income required)

Submit financial record/statement of account from the institution
Preference will be given to:

Students from rural or disadvantaged communities
-
Households earning less than R600,000 per year
-
Youth and persons with disabilities
