Eskom invites ambitious and talented South African university students currently studying engineering to apply for its Engineering Degree Bursary Programme for the 2027 intake.
The programme is aimed specifically at first- and second-year students enrolled at recognised public tertiary institutions. The bursary is designed to provide financial support while helping develop engineering skills that can contribute to South Africa’s energy sector.

Important: BEng Tech qualifications will not be considered.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Currently be enrolled at a recognised public university.
- Be studying towards an eligible engineering degree.
- Have an overall university academic average of 60% or higher.
- Have no outstanding/carry-over subjects.
- Not currently hold another bursary.
- Be a first- or second-year university student.
Selection Criteria
Selection will take into consideration:
- Academic performance.
- Full university academic record.
- No carry-over subjects.
- Minimum overall aggregate of 60%.
- Final 2026 academic results for currently registered students.

Current registered students must submit their full academic record. The final bursary decision will depend on their 2026 academic results.
Applicants may also be required to undergo a psychometric assessment as part of the selection process.
