Bursary Overview
Eskom invites ambitious and talented South African students currently studying engineering at recognised public Universities of Technology to apply for its Engineering Diploma Bursary Programme for the 2027 intake.
The bursary supports first- and second-year diploma students, as well as third-year students studying BEng Tech in Electrical or Industrial Engineering. The programme aims to provide financial support while developing engineering skills needed to contribute to South Africa’s energy sector.

- Diploma in Electrical Engineering – Heavy Current
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering – Light Current
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Diploma in Data Engineering
- Diploma in Chemical Engineering
- Diploma in Measurement, Control & Instrumentation
- BEng Tech in Industrial Engineering
- BEng Tech in Electrical Engineering
Important: Applications for Advanced Diploma qualifications will not be considered.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Be currently enrolled and actively studying at a recognised University of Technology.
- Be studying an eligible engineering diploma or qualifying BEng Tech programme.
- Have no carry-over/outstanding subjects.
- Not currently hold another bursary.
Academic Requirements
- A minimum overall academic aggregate of 50% or higher.
- Applicants must have no carry-over subjects.
- Current registered students must submit their full academic record.
- Final bursary decisions will depend on the applicant’s 2026 final academic results.
