    The Accelerate Orientation Program is a one-year practical training initiative within the hospitality or professional cookery sector, designed to provide young South African nationals with foundational experience in hotel operations. Trainees gain hands-on exposure to all departments (for Hospitality Management) or all kitchen sections (for Professional Cookery) to understand hotel operations and evaluate career suitability before applying for Marriott’s three-year Accelerate Program.

    Orientation Trainees are immersed in hotel operations, learning practical skills, following company standards, and understanding the expectations of the hospitality industry. The program provides a platform to develop professional, customer service, and operational competencies, preparing candidates for future career advancement within Marriott International.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Rotate across all hotel departments or kitchen sections to gain practical operational experience.

    • Follow company policies, procedures, and standards; maintain professional appearance and conduct.

    • Deliver exceptional guest service, anticipate needs, and maintain confidentiality.

    • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.

    • Maintain cleanliness, safety, and quality standards in all areas.

    • Perform tasks as assigned while adhering to operational and safety requirements.

    • Develop positive working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.

    • Participate in training, coaching, and development activities.

     Minimum Requirements

    • South African citizen by birth.

    • Age between 18–22 years (not older than 22 in the application year).

    • Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent NQF 4 / NCV Level 4 qualification.

    • Passed all 7 Matric subjects, preferably at 50% or higher.

    • At least 1 year practical work experience in a hotel.

    • No post-Matric NQF 4 / NCV 4 or higher qualifications.
