    Bluespec Holdings is seeking an experienced EMS Operations Manager to oversee the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of emergency medical services. The successful candidate will lead ambulance operations, manage EMS personnel, ensure regulatory compliance, optimize resource use, and coordinate emergency responses to provide timely, high-quality care.

     Key Responsibilities

    1. Operational Management

    • Oversee daily EMS operations, including ambulance deployment and personnel coordination.

    • Monitor response times and ensure compliance with protocols and regulations.

    • Coordinate across departments for seamless EMS operations.

    2. Staff Management

    • Lead, mentor, and supervise EMS personnel, including paramedics and technicians.

    • Manage recruitment, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

    • Ensure adequate staffing coverage for all shifts and peak periods.

    3. Resource Management

    • Maintain EMS vehicles, equipment, and medical supplies in operational readiness.

    • Oversee procurement, inventory control, and optimal resource allocation.

    4. Compliance & Quality Assurance

    • Ensure compliance with national, provincial, and organizational regulations.

    • Implement quality assurance programs and monitor care standards.

    • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.

    5. Strategic Planning & Development

    • Contribute to EMS strategic planning and operational decision-making.

    • Identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.

    • Assist in EMS budget management to ensure cost-effective operations.

    6. Crisis Management

    • Lead EMS response during major incidents or disasters.

    • Serve as primary point of contact during emergencies and maintain response plans.

    7. Stakeholder Communication

    • Build and maintain relationships with hospitals, government agencies, and community organizations.

    • Represent EMS in meetings, forums, and public events.

    • Address stakeholder concerns effectively.

     Job Requirements

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5–7 years in EMS, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.

    • Proven experience managing emergency medical operations in high-pressure environments.

    Education:

    • Matric.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Care, Health Services Management, Business Administration, or related field.

    • Minimum Intermediate Life Support certification.

    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

    • Additional management or leadership qualifications advantageous.

    Skills & Competencies:

    • Strong leadership, people management, and decision-making skills.

    • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.

    • Proficiency with EMS-related technology and software.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

    Other Requirements:

    • Valid driver’s license with Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

    • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.

    • Clear criminal record.

    • Strong physical and emotional resilience.
