Employment Information

- Salary Range: R914 517 – R975 582 per annum (all-inclusive package)
- Package Structure: Up to 30% flexible portion

Job Purpose
To provide mechanical engineering expertise and oversight in infrastructure planning, design, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 7 qualification in Engineering or equivalent
- Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer (Mechanical)
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering Standards & Compliance
- Develop and maintain mechanical engineering norms and standards
- Ensure compliance with engineering codes and policies
- Provide input into national and provincial infrastructure guidelines
2. Infrastructure Design & Planning
- Prepare technical specifications and design documentation
- Apply mechanical engineering principles in infrastructure projects
- Provide inputs into project execution plans (IDMS stages)
3. Project Oversight
- Monitor infrastructure projects for engineering compliance
- Ensure proper implementation of mechanical systems in construction
- Oversee commissioning of mechanical installations
4. Technical Evaluation & Feasibility
- Conduct feasibility studies for engineering solutions
- Assess new technologies and service delivery methods
- Evaluate cost, impact, and technical viability
5. Maintenance & Lifecycle Management
- Develop maintenance programmes for mechanical systems
- Provide engineering input into maintenance projects
- Assess lifecycle costs of infrastructure systems
6. Research & Innovation
- Stay updated with engineering innovations and industry trends
- Conduct research on new technologies and methodologies
- Engage with professional engineering bodies and councils
7. Advisory & Reporting
- Provide technical reports, drawings, and engineering advice
- Support decision-making with engineering assessments
- Provide inputs for infrastructure planning and budgeting
