Employment Information

- Salary Range: R914 517 – R975 582 per annum (all-inclusive package)

Job Purpose
To provide engineering planning, implementation oversight, and technical support for infrastructure programmes and projects, ensuring compliance with government infrastructure standards and delivery systems.
Minimum Requirements
- NQF Level 7 qualification in Engineering or equivalent
- Registration with Engineering Council of South Africa as a Professional Engineer
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Valid driver’s licence

Key Responsibilities
1. Infrastructure Planning & Procurement
- Develop procurement strategies and infrastructure plans
- Prepare budgets and project lists
- Compile project briefs and execution plans (IDMS Stage 1–7)
- Participate in SCM committees and tender evaluations
2. Project Implementation & Monitoring
- Monitor infrastructure projects executed by implementing agents
- Ensure compliance with service delivery agreements
- Review project execution plans and variation orders
- Recommend payment authorisations and contract adjustments
3. Maintenance Management
- Manage routine and emergency maintenance projects
- Support development of maintenance plans for schools and districts
- Monitor funding allocations and maintenance compliance
4. Project Commissioning & Evaluation
- Coordinate project handover and commissioning
- Conduct site inspections and performance evaluations
- Prepare post-project and post-occupancy reports
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare financial and technical progress reports
- Maintain project documentation systems
- Support infrastructure planning databases (e.g. NEIMS/EFMS updates)
6. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to engineering norms and legislation
- Maintain quality assurance and safety standards
- Align projects with national infrastructure frameworks
7. Research & Development
- Stay updated with engineering innovations and sector trends
- Study technical journals and policy updates
- Contribute to improved infrastructure systems and standards
