    SACO Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2026–2027

    The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO) is a research institution that supports the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture in mapping and measuring the cultural and creative economy in South Africa. Through this scholarship initiative, SACO aims to invest in the next generation of cultural scholars and innovators, helping to strengthen South Africa’s cultural knowledge base and promote sustainable development within the creative industries.

    Scholarship Benefits:

    • Financial contribution of up to R40,000 towards tuition and study-related expenses

    • Opportunity to contribute to research, innovation, and transformation in South Africa’s cultural and creative economy

    Eligibility Criteria:

    • Must be a South African citizen

    • Must be enrolled or intending to enrol for postgraduate studies (Honours, Master’s, or Doctoral) at a South African university

    • Study focus must align with the cultural, creative, heritage, or sports sectors

    • All applications must be typed (handwritten forms will not be considered)

    Application Process:

    • Download and complete the official SACO Scholarship Application Form from the SACO website

    • Submit the completed application form along with all required attachments via email

    Important Notes:

    • This is a partial scholarship and does not cover full study costs

    • Incomplete or handwritten applications will be disqualified

    • All requested documentation must be submitted with the application
