    Job Description

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Retail Store Assistant to support the overall management and operation of the Langenhoven store. The role focuses on ensuring that operational, administrative, customer service, stock control, and cash management functions are performed according to company policies and procedures.

    The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining efficient store operations, supporting customers, handling administrative processes, managing cash controls, and ensuring excellent service delivery.

    Main Purpose of the Role

    To assist with the day-to-day management of the store by ensuring operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, accurate administration, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer Service and Customer Relations

    • Manage and report customer compliments and complaints.
    • Build and maintain professional customer relationships.
    • Assist customers with enquiries and service requests.
    • Resolve customer stock-related queries.
    • Refer customers to the appropriate departments when necessary.
    • Provide feedback to customers regarding outstanding queries.
    • Ensure customer service standards are maintained.

    Store Operations Management

    • Support the efficient operation of the store.
    • Assist in maintaining operational standards.
    • Ensure compliance with company procedures.
    • Support daily store administration activities.
    • Monitor customer turnover rates according to company benchmarks.

    Cash and Financial Administration

    • Manage point-of-sale shortages and overages.
    • Control cash floats and cash handling procedures.
    • Manage refund and return transactions.
    • Prepare daily run reconciliations.
    • Maintain petty cash and cash-on-hand records.
    • Order and receive branch change requirements.
    • Ensure sufficient cash availability for cashiers.

    Stock Control and Inventory Management

    • Assist with high-risk stock management.
    • Ensure returned goods are processed correctly.
    • Verify stock deliveries and invoices for accuracy.
    • Assist with stock reconciliation and inventory control.
    • Support loss prevention initiatives.

    Receiving and Distribution Support

    • Assist the Receiving Manager with:
      • Distribution Centre claims
      • Claims processing
      • Delivery verification
      • Documentation control
    • Log claims accurately on company systems.
    • Ensure receiving processes comply with company standards.

    Documentation and Administration

    • Maintain effective document control systems.
    • Manage operational records and supporting documentation.
    • Ensure all financial and operational paperwork is accurate and complete.
    • Maintain communication between relevant departments and stakeholders.

    Liaison and Communication

    • Maintain effective communication with:
      • Customers
      • Store management
      • Cashiers
      • Receiving department
      • Other store departments
    • Ensure information is communicated accurately and timeously.

    Minimum Requirements

    Educational Qualifications

    Essential

    • Grade 12 (Matric)

    Experience

    Essential

    • Retail experience.
    • Experience in retail operations and administration.
    • Experience dealing with customers and cash handling.

    Technical Skills
