Job Overview
The University of the Free State is seeking qualified Professional Nurses to join a pool of candidates for part-time, ad hoc opportunities within its Health and Wellness Centre. Successful candidates may be called upon for short-term or hourly work as healthcare needs arise.
The position involves providing professional clinical services at the Primary Health Care Clinic, supporting campus sporting events, responding to emergencies and maintaining accurate electronic clinical records.
Nurses based near the Bloemfontein Campus, South Campus and Qwaqwa Campus are encouraged to apply to support regional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional clinical services at the Primary Health Care Clinic.
- Capture and maintain clinical notes on the electronic medical system.
- Assist with first aid services at campus sporting events when required.
- Respond to emergencies within the clinic.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the line manager.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Nursing Diploma/Degree in general, psychiatric, midwifery or community nursing.
- A Post-Basic Diploma/Degree in Primary Healthcare.
- A Dispensing Certificate.
- Proof of registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience in a primary healthcare clinic environment.
- The ability to travel independently to and from the healthcare facility.
Recommended Qualifications & Experience
The following will be advantageous:
- Certificate in HIV Testing and Counselling.
- NIMART training.
- Knowledge of PrEP and PEP.
- Dispensing licence.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Previous experience working with young adults or students.
