    Job Description

    The Principal will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the programmes under Structured Agricultural Training and Development at Glen College of Agriculture.

    The position oversees higher and further education and training services, institute support services, quality management, and farm management. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and accreditation requirements while leading the strategic development, performance, and sustainability of the College.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Strategically manage and direct all programmes under Structured Agricultural Training and Development.
    • Oversee:
      • Higher Education and Training Services.
      • Further Education and Training Services.
      • Institute Support Services.
      • Total Quality Management Services.
      • Institute Farm Management Services.
    • Develop and implement strategies and policies in line with approved norms and standards.
    • Implement national, provincial, and departmental frameworks.
    • Oversee quality assurance processes for higher and further education and training qualifications.
    • Develop and maintain the Agricultural Training Institute Annual Quality Assurance Plan.
    • Ensure agricultural education curricula are developed and aligned with relevant HEQC and FET standards.
    • Manage the implementation of Further Education and Training certification.
    • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements.
    • Establish and manage relevant Agricultural Training Institute committees.
    • Develop business models to enhance income-generating projects for the College.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and regulatory frameworks.
    • Develop the five-year Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan.
    • Monitor the implementation of agricultural training and development programmes.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
    • Manage the College’s resources in line with relevant legislation.
    • Advise and engage with internal and external stakeholders on agricultural training and development.
    • Identify potential risks and implement mitigation measures.
    • Manage programmes, operations, campaigns, and interventions supporting the sustainability and growth of the agricultural sector.
    • Drive productivity, economic growth, and agricultural sector development.

    Minimum Requirements

    • An appropriate NQF Level 7 qualification recognised by SAQA in one of the following fields:
      • Agriculture
      • Education
      • Business Management
      • Management
      • Public Management
      • Business Economics
    • At least 5 years’ experience at middle or senior managerial level in a higher education environment.
    • Valid Code B driver’s licence.
    • Compulsory Nyukela SMS Pre-Entry Certificate prior to appointment.
