Job Description
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and manage the Directorate: Sustainable Resource Management. The role focuses on engineering services, sustainable land management, Land Care, agricultural risk and disaster management, and the effective coordination of human, financial, and other resources.
The Director will also contribute to policy development, strategic planning, partnership coordination, and the monitoring and reporting of the Directorate’s performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the provision of engineering services.
- Promote sustainable Land Care initiatives.
- Promote the sustainable use and management of land.
- Manage the Agricultural Risk and Disaster Management Plan.
- Manage and coordinate all Directorate resources, including:
- Human resources
- Finances
- Equipment
- Other operational resources
- Provide input into provincial policies relating to service delivery.
- Support the implementation of policies aligned with the Department’s strategic objectives.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate with relevant role players to improve service delivery.
- Advise the Chief Director: Agricultural Development Support on matters relating to sustainable resource management.
- Support informed decision-making and forward planning.
- Participate in the development of:
- Five-year Strategic Plans
- Annual Performance Plans (APP)
- Directorate Operational Plans
- Monitor the implementation of Sustainable Resource Management matters.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports.
- Enhance the overall performance and effectiveness of the Directorate.
Requirements
- An appropriate NQF Level 7 qualification in:
- Engineering
- Natural Resource Management
- Land Use Planning
- At least 5 years’ experience at middle or senior managerial level in a sustainable or natural resource management environment.
- Valid Code B driver’s licence.
- Compulsory Nyukela SMS Pre-Entry Certificate prior to appointment.
