    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this role, candidates must possess the following:

    • A qualification allowing registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary.
    • Grade 1: No post-registration experience required for South African qualified employees who performed community service as required in South Africa.
    • Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate/recognizable experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary.
    • Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate/recognizable experience after registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant or Enrolled Nursing Auxiliary.
    • Current registration with SANC as a Nursing Assistant is mandatory.

    Key Knowledge and Skills

    • Strong elementary communication skills for effective interaction with patients.
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
    • Display empathy and a genuine concern for patients, advocating for their care and addressing their needs and expectations.

    Primary Responsibilities

    As a Nursing Assistant, your duties will include:

    • Supporting patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and elimination processes.
    • Delivering elementary clinical nursing care, including measuring, interpreting, and recording vital signs.
    • Operating relevant medical apparatus and equipment.
    • Assisting professional nurses with clinical procedures, including administering oral medication.
    • Preparing patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures.
    • Ensuring adherence to professional ethics, maintaining self-development, and upholding the code of conduct mandated by the Public Service and the Professional Body.
