    Job Description

    The OHS Inspector will conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Act 85 of 1993, its regulations, and applicable incorporated standards.

    The successful candidates will independently conduct workplace inspections, investigate complaints and incidents, enforce relevant legislation, conduct awareness campaigns, and compile inspection and statistical reports.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and independently conduct occupational health and safety inspections.
    • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant regulations.
    • Confirm registration and compliance with:
      • Unemployment Insurance Act.
      • Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act.
    • Investigate and finalise complaints and incidents relating to the OHS Act.
    • Enforce legislation where necessary.
    • Appear in court as a State witness when required.
    • Conduct proactive inspections according to approved schedules.
    • Monitor compliance with relevant labour legislation.
    • Compile and consolidate inspection reports.
    • Plan and conduct advocacy campaigns on labour legislation.
    • Analyse the impact of advocacy campaigns and compile reports.
    • Contribute to regional inspection planning.
    • Draft and maintain regional inspection plans and reports.
    • Analyse inspection and case data.
    • Compile consolidated statistical reports on regional and allocated cases.

    Requirements

    • Senior Certificate / Grade 12.
    • A recognised three-year qualification in the relevant field of Electrical Engineering.
    • Valid driver’s licence.
    • No previous experience required.

    Knowledge Required
