Salary Package
Grade 1: R1,341,855 – R1,422,810 per annum
Grade 2: R1,531,032 – R1,623,609 per annum
Grade 3: R1,773,222 – R2,212,680 per annum

70% basic salary

The Medical Specialist will provide specialized clinical services in their field (Pharmacology or Urology), ensuring high-quality patient care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings.

Job Description
As a Medical Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients within your specialty. You will also support the training of medical staff, participate in research, and contribute to the overall functioning of the healthcare facility.
The role requires a high level of clinical expertise, professionalism, and the ability to work in a demanding healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services
Provide care to:
Inpatients
Outpatients
Day patients
Emergency cases
Diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
Teaching & Training
Train and mentor junior doctors and healthcare staff
Participate in academic and clinical teaching programs
Research
Conduct and contribute to medical research
Stay updated with developments in the medical field
Administration & Operations
Perform medical administrative duties
Participate in commuted overtime duties
Support hospital operations and service delivery
Outreach Services
Provide outreach services to other healthcare facilities when required
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Registration
MBChB degree (or equivalent medical qualification)
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as:
Independent Medical Practitioner
Medical Specialist (relevant field)
Valid HPCSA registration for 2026
Experience
More than 1 year post community service experience
Experience in a Free State hospital (preferred)
Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license
South African citizen or permanent resident
Knowledge & Skills
Additional relevant qualifications (advantage):
Diplomas or certificates in the specialty
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support)
BSS (Basic Surgical Skills)
Strong clinical, analytical, and decision-making skills
Ability to work under pressure in a healthcare environment
