Job Description
As a Medical Specialist, you will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients within your specialty. You will also support the training of medical staff, participate in research, and contribute to the overall functioning of the healthcare facility.
The role requires a high level of clinical expertise, professionalism, and the ability to work in a demanding healthcare environment.

Clinical Services

Diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
Teaching & Training

Train and mentor junior doctors and healthcare staff

Participate in academic and clinical teaching programs

Stay updated with developments in the medical field
Administration & Operations

Perform medical administrative duties

Participate in commuted overtime duties

Support hospital operations and service delivery
Outreach Services

Provide outreach services to other healthcare facilities when required
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Registration
-
MBChB degree (or equivalent medical qualification)
-
Registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as:
-
Independent Medical Practitioner
-
Medical Specialist (relevant field)
-
-
Valid HPCSA registration for 2026
Experience
-
More than 1 year post community service experience
-
Experience in a Free State hospital (preferred)
Other Requirements

Valid driver’s license

South African citizen or permanent resident
Knowledge & Skills

Additional relevant qualifications (advantage):

Diplomas or certificates in the specialty

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
