Purpose of the Role
To design, manage, and oversee civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with standards, efficient resource utilisation, and delivery of safe, cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Engineering Design & Project Management
- Design and develop engineering systems to solve practical challenges
- Plan, design, operate, and maintain civil engineering projects
- Develop cost-effective solutions aligned with engineering standards
- Prepare tender specifications and evaluate technical proposals
- Approve engineering works in line with prescribed norms and standards
Technical Oversight & Compliance
- Review designs, manuals, and procedures to incorporate new technologies
- Ensure all engineering work complies with legal, regulatory, and safety standards
- Monitor adherence to engineering principles and codes of practice
Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise technicians, technologists, and candidate engineers
- Facilitate training, mentorship, and skills development
- Manage performance and support professional growth within the team
Resource & Financial Management
- Plan and manage project budgets and resource allocation
- Monitor expenditure and ensure cost control
- Support procurement and personnel administration processes
Reporting & Communication
- Compile technical reports and project documentation
- Report on project progress, expenditure, and service delivery
- Liaise with relevant professional bodies such as the Engineering Council of South Africa
Research & Development
- Conduct research to stay updated on engineering technologies and practices
- Apply innovative solutions to improve efficiency and service delivery
- Maintain continuous professional development
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (NQF Level 7)
- Compulsory registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa as a Civil Engineer
- Valid driver’s licence (except for persons with disabilities)

Salary & Benefits
- Salary: R879 342 per annum (all-inclusive package)
