Job Overview
Supreme Poultry is seeking an experienced Shift Manager to join its Processing Department at the Botshabelo Abattoir. The successful candidate will oversee production operations during their assigned shift, ensuring efficient production, product quality, food safety, employee supervision, and compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.
This role is ideal for an experienced poultry processing professional with strong leadership, operational, and people management skills.
Key Responsibilities
As the Shift Manager, you will:
- Manage and supervise production activities during your assigned shift.
- Ensure food safety and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Ensure products are packed according to approved product specifications.
- Set daily production targets in line with the overall production plan.
- Monitor production performance and report against production targets.
- Implement corrective actions where production deviations occur.
- Ensure continuous production flow and operational efficiency.
- Monitor product quality to ensure compliance with company specifications.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Execute emergency procedures when required.
- Record and submit payroll input information.
- Monitor employee attendance and manage leave schedules.
- Coordinate planned maintenance with the Production Manager and Engineering team.
- Promote effective communication within the department and across other sections.
- Maintain positive employee relations and workplace discipline.
- Liaise with other departments and senior management.
- Ensure excellent housekeeping standards throughout the production area.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (National Certificate).
- 4–5 years’ relevant poultry processing experience.
- Knowledge of food processing hygiene standards and food safety systems.
- Understanding of statutory workplace health and safety requirements.
- Mechanical knowledge to safely operate processing equipment.
- Good organisational and human relations skills.
- Experience managing workplace discipline.
- Ability to utilise available resources efficiently to achieve production targets.
- Good communication skills.
