Job Overview
Mediclinic Welkom is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Professional Nurse – Paediatric to join its healthcare team. Key Responsibilities
As the Professional Nurse – Paediatric, you will:
- Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Assess, identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
- Provide compassionate and patient-centred care to children and their families.
- Create a positive patient experience by maintaining a supportive and caring environment.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records and documentation.
- Develop and implement appropriate nursing care plans.
- Promote infection prevention and control practices.
- Support staff development by creating a positive learning environment.
- Ensure all stock, medication, and equipment used are accurately recorded.
- Comply with all relevant nursing legislation, policies, and clinical standards.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- A Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or
- A 4-year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
Experience:
- No prior work experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be advantageous:
- Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g. Critical Care, Emergency Care, or Perioperative Nursing) if working in a specialised unit.
Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ACLS, ATLS, or PALS training for specialised units (advantageous).
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
- Patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of nursing processes and procedures.
- Nursing care planning skills.
- Accurate nursing record-keeping.
- Knowledge of pharmacology.
