Job Description
This role is focused on managing and growing a portfolio of public sector clients (e.g., government departments, municipalities, and state entities). You will provide banking solutions, financial guidance, and strategic support, while driving revenue growth through new business and cross-selling.
The position combines relationship management, sales, and financial analysis, with a strong focus on compliance and understanding the public sector environment.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Portfolio Management
- Manage an existing portfolio of public sector clients
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Provide strategic financial advice and solutions
Sales & Business Growth
- Acquire new clients (tender and non-tender based)
- Cross-sell banking products (loans, investments, transactional services)
- Develop and execute a sales and portfolio strategy
Financial & Credit Management
- Review credit proposals and manage lending limits
- Structure deals for low to medium complexity clients
- Ensure sound financial decision-making
Reporting & Analysis
- Compile reports to track performance and inform decisions
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify growth opportunities
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with:
- Banking regulations
- Legislative requirements
- Audit processes
- Maintain adherence to internal policies and procedures
Collaboration & Service Delivery
- Work across teams to improve service delivery
- Enhance customer experience and operational efficiency
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) or relevant postgraduate qualification
- 3–5 years relevant experience
- At least 2–3 years experience in:
- Credit assessment (judgmental credit)
- Portfolio management
- Relationship management
- RE5 certification (FAIS requirement)
