Job Description
This role is a medical registrar training post within a specialist hospital environment, focusing on urology with a pharmacology-related clinical/academic component.
It combines:
- Clinical patient care
- Specialist training
- Academic teaching
- Research and hospital service delivery
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
- Manage inpatients, outpatients, day cases, and emergencies
- Participate in surgical and urology-related clinical care
- Provide high-level clinical support under supervision
Emergency & Hospital Care
- Respond to medical and surgical emergencies
- Participate in commuted overtime duties (mandatory)
Teaching & Training
- Assist in teaching medical students and junior doctors
- Participate in clinical training programmes
Research & Academic Work
- Conduct clinical research
- Contribute to academic outputs within the department
Administration & Outreach
- Perform medical administrative duties
- Participate in outreach services to other hospitals
Minimum Requirements
- MBChB (or equivalent medical degree)
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (valid for 2026/2027)
- At least 1+ year post-community service experience
- South African citizen or permanent resident
- Valid driver’s licence
