Job Overview
Supreme Poultry is seeking an experienced Breeder Farm Supervisor / Chargehand to join its Agriculture Breeder Team at Kelly’s View, Bloemfontein. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operations of the breeder farm, ensuring efficient site management, animal welfare, staff supervision, and compliance with company policies and biosecurity standards.
This position is ideal for an experienced agricultural professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for modern poultry farming.
Key Responsibilities
As the Breeder Farm Supervisor / Chargehand, you will:
- Supervise the daily operations and productivity of the breeder farm.
- Maintain accurate records and submit daily reports, including:
- Mortalities
- Egg collection records
- Daily production statistics
- Water consumption
- Feed orders
- Ensure all farm assets, equipment, and installations are properly maintained.
- Monitor livestock to ensure humane treatment and compliance with company animal welfare standards.
- Oversee feeding, vaccinations, spillages, and report any deviations.
- Coach and mentor employees on animal welfare, biosecurity, quality standards, and company procedures.
- Conduct employee training according to the training schedule.
- Plan and organise daily work activities.
- Promote effective communication among team members.
- Manage employee performance, attendance, and basic HR/IR matters on site.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor operational performance and ensure adherence to company policies.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (National Certificate).
- Strong numerical literacy.
- A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in poultry rearing or laying within a supervisory role.
- Good understanding of modern poultry farming methods.
- Knowledge of animal welfare practices.
- Ability to apply poultry production principles effectively on site.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be advantageous:
- A Degree in Agriculture.
- Relevant poultry production courses.
- Computer literacy in:
- Microsoft Outlook
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft Word
- Experience analysing operational reports and monitoring compliance with company policies and procedures.
