    Job Purpose

    The Assistant Director: Performance Management is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and managing the implementation of the Performance Management and Development System (PMDS) across the department. The role ensures compliance with performance management policies, supports moderation processes, coordinates employee performance rewards, provides training and guidance to employees and managers, and oversees the effective management of performance management resources and systems.

    The successful candidate will contribute to organizational performance improvement by ensuring that performance management practices are implemented consistently, fairly, and in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

    Educational Qualifications

    • Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
    • Degree (NQF Level 7) in:
      • Human Resource Management, or
      • Public Administration, or
      • Equivalent qualification recognized by South African Qualifications Authority.

    Experience

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a PMDS (Performance Management and Development System) environment.
    • At least 2 years’ supervisory experience.

    Additional Requirements

    • Valid Driver’s Licence.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Coordinate PMDS Implementation

    • Facilitate implementation of the Performance Management and Development System throughout the department.
    • Ensure compliance with PMDS policies and guidelines.
    • Coordinate departmental PMDS activities.
    • Monitor adherence to performance management timelines.
    • Promote effective performance management practices.

    2. Performance Moderation Support

    • Provide support and guidance on moderation processes.
    • Coordinate moderation meetings and activities.
    • Ensure fairness and consistency in performance assessments.
    • Assist managers with moderation requirements.
    • Monitor implementation of moderation outcomes.
    • Maintain moderation records and documentation.

    3. Training and Capacity Building
