JOB DETAILS
- Position: Intern – Library and Information Services
- Contract: 1-Year Internship
- Location: Bloemfontein
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
To support the Library and Information Services unit by providing multimedia, digital content, and technical support services that enhance teaching, learning, research, and digital access—while gaining practical workplace experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Multimedia & Content Development
- Create and edit videos, audio, and graphic content
- Develop digital resources to improve user experience
- Ensure content meets quality and accessibility standards
Technical Support & Training
- Provide support to students and staff on digital tools and platforms
- Facilitate workshops, tutorials, and training sessions
- Assist with digital projects and system usage
Digital Library & Web Management
- Contribute to digital library services and content strategies
- Assist in developing instructional materials and online content
- Manage and update the African Languages Press (ALP) online bookstore
- Ensure accurate content, updates, and digital visibility
Digital Projects & Collaboration
- Participate in innovative and interdisciplinary projects
- Promote digital services offered by the library
- Support research and creative digital initiatives
Equipment & Systems Management
- Manage multimedia and digitization equipment
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure proper maintenance
Digital Collections Support
- Assist with digital collections management
- Support software licensing and integration of new technologies
- Align systems with research and academic needs
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology
- Relevant practical experience (e.g., multimedia, IT support, or digital platforms)
ADVANTAGEOUS SKILLS
- Knowledge of:
- Content management systems (e.g., Sitefinity, Springshare)
- HTML (basic web editing)
- Experience with multimedia tools such as:
- Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop
- Camtasia, DaVinci Resolve, Audacity
