Job Description
This role is a senior nursing leadership position responsible for managing and coordinating nursing services within the General Surgery department.
You will oversee patient care delivery, nursing staff performance, and resource management to ensure high-quality healthcare services in line with national health standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Supervise and ensure effective patient care
- Oversee nursing care plans and evaluation processes
- Ensure high standards of clinical nursing practice in General Surgery
Coordination & Monitoring
- Coordinate implementation of nursing care plans
- Monitor nursing service delivery and quality assurance
- Participate in development of nursing guidelines and procedures
Staff & Stakeholder Management
- Maintain strong working relationships with nursing staff and hospital teams
- Manage and support human resource utilization
- Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures
Resource Management
- Manage human, financial, and physical resources efficiently
- Ensure proper use of hospital supplies and equipment
Health Education & Patient Support
- Provide health information to patients and families
- Support patient rehabilitation and health outcomes
Minimum Requirements
- Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Nursing diploma/degree allowing registration as a Professional Nurse
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council (current 2026/2027)
- Diploma in Health Care Management
- Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing
