Job Description
This is a specialised nursing management role focused on theatre (operating room) services. You will be responsible for managing nursing operations in surgical theatres, ensuring high-quality patient care during surgical procedures, and maintaining strict clinical, safety, and operational standards.
The role combines clinical leadership, resource management, training, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Theatre Management
- Coordinate specialised nursing care in theatre environments
- Ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical nursing services
- Maintain compliance with clinical standards and protocols
Leadership & Supervision
- Manage and supervise theatre nursing staff
- Ensure proper allocation and utilisation of human resources
- Support staff development and performance management
Resource Management
- Oversee use of medical and theatre equipment
- Ensure efficient use of supplies and materials
- Maintain operational readiness of theatre services
Training & Research
- Coordinate nursing training within theatre services
- Participate in clinical research activities
- Promote continuous professional development
Compliance & Governance
Ensure adherence to:

- HR and public service regulations
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Nursing diploma/degree (R425 qualification or equivalent)
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse
- Current SANC registration (2026/2027)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 9 years nursing experience after registration
- At least 5 years specialised theatre nursing experience
- Must be willing to work shifts
