Job Overview
The Department of Human Settlements invites suitably qualified graduates to apply for the Graduate Internship Programme: Information Technology – District Services. This 24-month internship offers recent graduates an opportunity to gain practical work experience in an Information Technology environment while supporting the Department’s IT systems and district service operations.
The programme is designed to help graduates develop technical skills, gain exposure to government operations, and improve their employability in the public sector.
Key Responsibilities
Successful interns will be expected to:
- Provide administrative and technical support within the Information Technology unit.
- Assist with the maintenance and support of computer systems and networks.
- Support users with basic IT-related queries and troubleshooting.
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software.
- Help maintain accurate IT records, documentation, and inventories.
- Contribute to the effective operation of District Services through IT support.
- Perform other IT-related duties assigned by supervisors.
- Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and government regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A minimum qualification at NQF Level 6 in one of the following fields:
- Information Technology
- Computer Systems
- Computer Networks
- A related Information Technology qualification
- Basic knowledge of government prescripts and principles.
