Job Overview
The Department of Human Settlements is inviting applications for the Graduate Internship Programme: Housing Development & Planning. This 24-month internship is designed for graduates with qualifications in Urban Planning, Town and Regional Planning, or Development Studies who are seeking practical experience in the planning and development of sustainable human settlements.
The successful intern will support housing development projects, planning initiatives, and administrative functions while gaining valuable experience in the public sector.
Key Responsibilities
The successful intern will be expected to:
- Assist with housing development and planning projects.
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of human settlements programmes.
- Conduct research and assist with data collection and analysis.
- Assist in preparing planning reports, project documentation, and presentations.
- Support spatial planning and development initiatives.
- Maintain project records and administrative documentation.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings and project coordination activities.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and government planning frameworks.
- Perform additional duties related to housing development and planning as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- A minimum qualification at NQF Level 7 in one of the following fields:
- Urban Planning
- Town and Regional Planning
- Development Studies
- Basic knowledge of government prescripts and principles.
