    Job Overview

    Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting a Casual Frontshop Assistant for its new store in Ficksburg. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about customer service and retail operations.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining merchandising standards, assisting customers, replenishing stock, processing sales transactions, and ensuring the store remains clean, organised, and fully stocked. This role is well suited to someone looking to start or build a career in the retail industry.

    Key Responsibilities

    Customer Service

    • Deliver friendly, professional, and helpful customer service.
    • Assist customers with product enquiries and recommendations.
    • Follow up on customer out-of-stock requests.
    • Handle customer compliments and complaints by reporting them to management.
    • Build positive relationships with customers.

    Merchandising & Stock Control

    • Ensure shelves are fully stocked and neatly displayed.
    • Rotate stock and monitor expiry dates.
    • Replenish merchandise to maximise sales opportunities.
    • Report low, damaged, expired, or out-of-stock items to management.
    • Assist with stock counts and stocktaking.
    • Load and off-load stock when required.
    • Ensure storerooms remain clean, organised, and properly stocked.
    • Flatten and dispose of empty boxes according to company procedures.

    Point of Sale Operations

    • Process customer purchases accurately using cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other approved payment methods.
    • Process authorised merchandise exchanges and returns.
    • Handle loyalty card transactions.
    • Ensure accurate cash handling and cash balancing.
    • Deposit cash into the drop safe according to company procedures.
    • Ensure all line voids and price changes receive the necessary approvals.

    Store Operations

    • Maintain high housekeeping standards throughout the store.
    • Ensure all outgoing merchandise is scanned and paid for.
    • Assist in training new and existing team members.
    • Report suspicious behaviour or security concerns to management.
    • Follow all Dis-Chem policies, standard operating procedures, and health and safety requirements.
    • Maintain a professional appearance in line with the company dress code.

    Minimum Requirements

    Essential

    • Grade 12 (Matric) or Senior Certificate.
    • 0–6 months retail work experience.

    Advantageous

    • 1 year retail experience.
    • Certificate in Retail Business Management.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    • Good communication skills.
    • Basic arithmetic and cash-handling ability.
