Job Description
This is a mid-level HR management role responsible for overseeing human resource administration and staff management in a public sector environment.
You will ensure proper implementation of HR policies, manage employee benefits and recruitment processes, and support organisational efficiency through effective HR systems.
Key Responsibilities
HR Administration (Core Function)
- Manage conditions of service, including:
- Leave
- Housing
- Medical aid
- Overtime
- Pension and allowances
- Handle terminations, transfers, and re-allocations
Recruitment & Staffing (HR Provisioning)
- Oversee recruitment and selection processes
- Manage:
- Appointments
- Transfers
- Temporary employment
- Qualification verification
- Provide secretariat support during interviews
- Monitor probation periods
Reporting & Policy Support
- Prepare HR reports and statistics
- Contribute to HR policy development and updates
- Ensure correct implementation of HR policies
HR Queries & Compliance
- Address HR-related queries and complaints
- Ensure compliance with public service regulations
- Conduct HR audits and monitor audit action plans
Staff Management & Leadership
- Supervise HR staff within the unit
- Manage performance and development of team members
- Update job descriptions
- Facilitate training and development programmes
Monitoring & Coordination
- Coordinate audit information submissions
- Track HR processes and improvements
- Report on sub-directorate activities
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resource Management (NQF Level 6) or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience in HR
- Valid driver’s licence
- Relevant PERSAL certificates (important for government HR roles)
