     Job Overview

    The WRF Acquisition Dealmaker is responsible for attracting new-to-bank clients within Absa Business Bank across SME, Growth, Premium, and High-Value segments.

    The primary focus of the role is new business acquisition and expansion of existing clients through proactive selling of financial solutions, including advances, transactional banking (Business Evolve, Online Banking), and cash and card acquiring solutions.

    The role plays a strategic part in driving advances growth, cross-selling, profitability, and maintaining an acceptable credit risk profile through sound financial analysis and high-quality credit applications.

     Job Description

    Business Development & Acquisition

    • Develop and execute a strategy to attract quality new business within the assigned catchment area.

    • Identify prospects that do not currently bank with Absa and create acquisition opportunities.

    • Anticipate client needs and present suitable financial solutions.

    • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across wholesale, retail, and franchise sectors within the province.

    • Actively participate in regional marketing initiatives and networking activities.

    Deal Structuring & Credit Process

    • Structure deals aligned to client requirements and bank policies.

    • Conduct detailed financial analysis including cash flow, ratio analysis, and repayment capacity calculations.

    • Complete and submit high-quality credit applications for approval.

    • Obtain relevant division and credit approvals.

    • Interface directly with clients, often at client sites.

    • Communicate approval decisions and handle objections professionally.

    • Introduce and hand over qualified clients to Relationship Executives or relevant business units.

    Growth & Profitability Management

    • Achieve contracted advances growth targets.

    • Achieve cross-sell and profitability targets.

    • Encourage maximum product utilization through profitable cross-selling.

    • Monitor competitor activities and market trends.

    • Develop action plans to meet set performance targets.

    Risk Management

    • Maintain an acceptable risk profile on all new business.

    • Ensure compliance with Absa’s credit risk policies and processes.

    • Assess and manage credit risk associated with new transactions.

    Stakeholder & Lead Management

    • Establish and maintain a strong referral and lead network.

    • Provide and follow up on business leads across different business units.

    • Collaborate closely with Relationship Executives to drive deal execution.

    Personal & Career Development

    • Take ownership of career progression in partnership with management.

    • Participate in relevant training and development initiatives.

     Minimum Requirements

    Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies (Required).

    Experience

    • Proven track record in financial services sales.

    • Experience in business banking or advances products is advantageous.
