    Project Overview

    Tswelopele Local Municipality invites suitably qualified contractors to undertake Phase 2 of the Phahameng Stadium Upgrade Project, which focuses on the construction and installation of a new athletics running track and associated infrastructure.

    The project aims to improve sports and recreational facilities for the local community by developing a modern athletics venue.

    Purpose of the Project

    Scope of Work

    Running Track Construction

    The successful contractor will be responsible for:

    • Edge restraints and kerbing.

    Site Preparation and Earthworks

    Work includes:

    • Site clearance.
    • Excavation and filling.
    • Importation of suitable fill material.
    • Levelling and compaction.
    • Disposal of surplus material.

    Ancillary Infrastructure

    The project may include:

    • Fencing installation.
    • Access improvements.
    • Site facilities and contractor accommodation.

    Health and Safety Compliance

    The contractor must:

    • Prepare a Health and Safety Plan.

    • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

    Minimum Requirements

    CIDB Requirement

    Bidders must possess:

    • CIDB Grade 4CE or higher.

    Experience Requirements

    Contractors must provide evidence of:

    • Similar civil engineering or sports facility projects.
    • Completed projects exceeding R3 million in value.
    • Successful delivery of athletic track, stadium, or related infrastructure projects.

    Key Personnel Requirements

    Project Manager

    Must have:

    • Minimum 5 years relevant civil engineering experience.
    • Experience managing similar infrastructure projects.

    Site Agent

    Must have:

    • Minimum 2 years relevant construction experience.
    • Ability to supervise daily site operations.

    Financial Requirements

    Bidders must demonstrate financial capability through:

    • Bank rating of A, B, or C.
    • Bank confirmation not older than 3 months.
    • Ability to fund project activities until payment cycles are completed.

    Resources Required

    The contractor should have access to:

    • Construction vehicles.
    • Earthmoving equipment.
    • Compaction equipment.
