    Responsibilities:

    The Social Work Supervisor Grade 1 will play a critical role in enhancing the delivery of social welfare services across the province. Key responsibilities include:

    • Rendering professional social work services to vulnerable individuals, families, and communities through targeted programs related to care, support, protection, and development.

    • Addressing issues that contribute to social instability, including substance abuse, domestic violence, poverty, and child neglect.

    • Supervising a team of social workers, social auxiliary workers, and volunteers, ensuring that all services delivered are of a high standard and meet the Department’s requirements.

    • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff and ensuring compliance with professional ethics and policies.

    • Keeping abreast of new developments in the field of social work and incorporating these into practice and planning.

    • Managing administrative and reporting duties, including compiling statistical reports, performance management, and budgeting for programmatic needs.

    • Engaging with communities and stakeholders, promoting awareness of departmental programs and encouraging community involvement.

    Qualifications:

    To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized institution.

    • Current registration with the South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.

    • A minimum of 7 years’ appropriate experience in social work post-registration.

    • Excellent communication, supervision, and report writing skills.

    • Proven leadership and organizational skills.

    • Strong knowledge of applicable social work legislation and policy frameworks.
