    Responsibilities:

    As the Assistant Director: Financial Planning, Budgeting & Monitoring, you will play a critical role in ensuring effective and efficient financial management within the Department. Key duties include:

    • Compiling departmental budget documents, presentations, and financial reports in alignment with national and provincial regulations.

    • Managing the shifting of funds and virements within programmes and processing them on BAS (Basic Accounting System), including proper documentation and reporting.

    • Preparing monthly and quarterly expenditure reports, such as IYM (In-Year Monitoring), Compensation of Employees (COE), Conditional Grants (CG), and Status Reports.

    • Monitoring actual expenditures and commitments, identifying deviations, and assisting in projecting future financial needs.

    • Controlling and maintaining SCOA (Standard Chart of Accounts) segments and BAS codes to support budget accuracy and alignment.

    • Performing administrative functions related to the financial planning and budgeting directorate.

    • Handling ad hoc financial tasks and supporting internal and external audit processes.

    Qualifications:

    To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or an NQF Level 6 qualification in Financial Management.

    • Alternatively, Grade 12 plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Public Sector Financial Administration.

    • Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Excel.

    • Solid understanding of Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.

    • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
