    Job Description

    The Department of Defence is inviting suitably qualified and competent contractors to provide servicing, maintenance and repair services for 18 air-conditioning units located in the office buildings at the Ladybrand Operations Base.

    The appointed contractor will be responsible for maintaining the air-conditioning systems in good working condition through preventative maintenance, performance testing, fault diagnosis, component replacement, refrigerant handling and corrective repairs. The work is intended to ensure effective indoor environmental conditions and support uninterrupted office operations.

    Responsibilities

    The successful contractor will be responsible for:

    • Servicing and maintaining 18 air-conditioning units.
    • Conducting routine preventative maintenance.
    • Testing the performance and functionality of air-conditioning systems.
    • Diagnosing faults and identifying defective components.
    • Carrying out necessary repairs and corrective maintenance.
    • Replacing damaged or faulty components where required.
    • Handling refrigerants safely and appropriately.
    • Ensuring air-conditioning systems remain operational and effective.
    • Maintaining accurate service records and maintenance reports.
    • Coordinating maintenance activities with the employer’s facilities management team.
    • Complying with applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

    Requirements

    Applicants/contractors must meet the following requirements:

    • Minimum CIDB grading of 1 GB or higher.
    • Skilled HVAC technicians with experience in commercial air-conditioning diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance.
    • Qualified site supervisors with experience in maintenance contracts.
    • Competence in occupational health and safety compliance.
    • Ability to safely handle electrical systems and refrigerants.
    • Administrative capacity to maintain service logs and progress reports.
    • Bids must be submitted using the official tender documentation issued by the Department of Defence.
    • Contractors must comply with all prescribed tender submission, sealing, addressing and delivery requirements.
    • Attendance at the compulsory clarification meeting is required.
