Job Description
The appointed contractor will be responsible for the supply, removal, installation, testing, and commissioning of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) LED fittings at Bram Fischer International Airport.
The contractor will provide all labour, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, and technical expertise required to replace existing runway/apron lighting fittings with new LED units. All work must comply with Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) specifications, airport electrical standards, aviation safety regulations, and applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supply approved AGL LED fittings for inserts and apron lighting.
- Remove existing AGL LED fittings and associated components where required.
- Install new AGL LED fittings in accordance with project specifications.
- Replace defective lighting inserts and apron lighting fixtures.
- Perform electrical connections and wiring for the new lighting system.
- Test all installed lighting equipment to verify proper operation.
- Commission the complete AGL lighting system.
- Ensure compliance with airport lighting specifications and aviation standards.
- Supply all labour, materials, tools, plant, and equipment required for the project.
- Supervise installation teams and subcontractors.
- Coordinate site activities with airport operations personnel.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control procedures.
- Conduct inspections and rectify installation defects.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements.
- Maintain a safe working environment within the operational airport.
- Monitor project progress and ensure completion within agreed timelines.
- Maintain installation records, inspection reports, and commissioning documentation.
- Liaise with ACSA representatives and project stakeholders.
- Complete final testing, commissioning, and project handover.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Valid CIDB Grade 4 EP registration or higher.
- Proven experience in electrical infrastructure installation projects.
- Experience in airport lighting or Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) systems.
- Attendance at the compulsory clarification meeting.
- Submission of the tender using the prescribed tender documentation.
- Ability to complete the project within the specified timeframe.
- Compliance with all tender specifications and contractual requirements.
