Tender Overview
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) invites qualified service providers to submit bids for the replacement of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) LED fittings, including runway inserts and apron lighting, at Bram Fischer International Airport. The project aims to upgrade the airport’s lighting infrastructure to improve operational safety, reliability, and compliance with aviation standards.
Tender Objective
The objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified contractor to:
- Replace existing AGL LED fittings on the runway and apron.
- Improve airfield lighting performance and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with aviation, electrical, and safety standards.
- Provide maintenance support during the defects liability period.
- Train ACSA personnel on the operation and maintenance of the installed lighting systems.
Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be responsible for:
Supply and Installation
- Supply and deliver AGL LED fittings for runway inserts and apron lighting.
- Install LED runway edge lights and apron edge lighting.
- Install all associated electrical and mechanical components.
Engineering and Documentation
- Prepare workshop drawings before installation.
- Produce as-built drawings upon project completion.
- Supply operating manuals and maintenance schedules.
- Submit documentation in both CAD and PDF formats.
Testing and Commissioning
- Test and commission the completed lighting installation.
- Verify compliance with technical specifications.
- Rectify any defects identified during commissioning.
Maintenance and Training
- Provide maintenance support during the defects liability period.
- Train ACSA personnel on the operation and maintenance of the new lighting system.
Technical Requirements
The successful bidder must:
- Supply LED airfield lighting equipment that meets the required specifications.
- Install lighting in accordance with approved engineering drawings.
- Comply with SANS 10142 and other applicable electrical standards.
- Supply all required electrical and mechanical fittings, including PVC sleeves where specified.
- Comply with quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Maintain ISO 9001 quality management standards where applicable.
- Provide complete testing, commissioning, and technical documentation.
Minimum Requirements
Interested bidders should demonstrate:
- Experience in airport or aviation lighting projects.
- Qualified electricians or electrical technicians experienced in airfield lighting systems.
- Civil engineering or construction experience related to lighting infrastructure.
- Experience in project management, quality assurance, and site supervision.
- Ability to prepare professional technical drawings using AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of aviation lighting standards and electrical regulations.
