Role Purpose
The Financial Associate is responsible for marketing AVBOB’s funeral insurance, savings plans, and related products, as well as recruiting funerals for the Funeral Division. The role focuses on growing the client base, delivering professional financial services, and maintaining compliance with FAIS legislation while upholding AVBOB’s strong values and customer-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
Market and sell funeral insurance, savings plans, and related AVBOB products
Recruit funerals for the Funeral Division
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and communities
Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate financial solutions
Ensure full compliance with FAIS legislation and AVBOB policies
Maintain accurate records and complete all required administrative tasks
Achieve sales and performance targets ethically and professionally
Minimum Qualifications & Compliance Requirements
Matric (Grade 12) and/or tertiary education with 30 credits on NQF Level 4
Must meet FAIS Fit and Proper requirements, based on year of entry into the industry:
2004–2007: 30 NQF Level 4 credits by 31 December 2009
2008–2009: 30–60 NQF Level 4 credits by 31 December 2011 or full FAIS qualification by 31 December 2013
2010 onwards: Full FAIS-recognised qualification required
Clear ITC (credit) record
Clear criminal record
RE 5 qualification (advantageous)
Experience Required
Previous marketing or sales experience (insurance industry experience advantageous)
Skills & Competencies
Valid driver’s licence with own reliable transport and cell phone
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good administration and time management skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Customer-focused and results-driven
