Subsistence & travel allowances will be reimbursed per applicable guidelines.

Main Purpose of the Position:
To provide strategic advice and oversight to Glen College of Agriculture in alignment with national agricultural and educational mandates, ensuring good governance, academic excellence, stakeholder inclusivity, and financial sustainability.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must meet at least one of the following profiles:
1. Academic Expertise
-
PhD in Agriculture or Education
-
Minimum 10 years’ experience in academic programmes, curriculum development, or quality assurance in Higher Education
-
Currently active in Higher Education sector
2. Finance & Audit Expertise
-
At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Auditing
3. Agricultural Sector Expertise
-
Over 10 years of farming experience, or
-
Active stakeholder in the agricultural sector, local municipality, or Glen College alumni
Required Competencies:

Strategic planning

Academic quality assurance

Governance and ethics

Risk management and compliance (e.g., PFMA)

Stakeholder engagement

Knowledge of agricultural education and policy
Key Responsibilities:
Board members will serve on one or more of the following committees:

Human Resources and Ethics Committee

Finance and Audit Committee
-
Senate Committee
General duties include:
Advise on the implementation of Glen College’s strategic goals
Oversee and monitor academic programme development and quality assurance
promote and ensure alignment with national agricultural priorities
Support the creation of a conducive teaching and learning environment
Evaluate and ensure prudent financial resource utilization
Monitor operations and risk management plans
Recommend approval of institutional policies and strategies
Promote student involvement in governance
Ensure registration and traceability of learners (SAQA compliance)
Advise on the appointment of the College Principal
Report quarterly to the Chief Director and HoD
Promote institutional self-sustainability and marketing efforts
Strengthen intergovernmental and stakeholder relations
