Main Purpose of the Position:
To provide strategic leadership and oversight within the designated region of the Department of Correctional Services. The Deputy Regional Commissioner ensures compliance, operational efficiency, and transformation within correctional centres and regional management areas in alignment with departmental policies, legislation, and national goals.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
-
An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration, Behavioural Sciences, or a related field (as recognised by SAQA)

Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS) from the National School of Government (NSG) (must be submitted prior to appointment)
Experience:
-
At least 5 years’ experience at a senior managerial level
Other Requirements:

Computer literacy

Valid driver’s licence
Knowledge & Skills Required:

In-depth understanding of the South African Criminal Justice System

Sound knowledge of Correctional Services operations and architecture

Knowledge of Public Service Act & Regulations, PFMA, and Correctional Services Act 111 of 1998 (as amended)
