Salary (All-Inclusive Package, Excluding Overtime & Rural Allowance):

Grade 1: R1 001 349 – R1 078 116 per annum

Grade 2: R1 142 553 – R1 247 202 per annum

Grade 3: R1 322 352 – R1 647 630 per annum
70% basic salary + 30% flexible portion. Commuted overtime and rural allowance excluded but applicable. Medical Aid optional.
Job Type:
Permanent, Full-Time (with compulsory commuted overtime)
Main Purpose of the Position:
To provide comprehensive medical services within regional and district hospital settings, including clinical governance, outreach support, and medical administration, while ensuring quality patient care and legal compliance in line with the Free State Department of Health policies and national health regulations.
Minimum Requirements:

Senior Certificate (Matric)
-
MBChB or equivalent qualification allowing registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner
-
Registration with HPCSA (2025/2026) as an Independent Medical Practitioner
-
For foreign-qualified candidates, 1 year of relevant post-registration experience (if community service not required in South Africa)
Experience Requirements:

Grade 1:
-
No experience required for SA-qualified practitioners
-
1 year post-registration experience for foreign-qualified practitioners

Grade 2:
-
5 years’ appropriate experience post-registration with HPCSA (SA-qualified)

6 years for foreign-qualified practitioners

Grade 3:

10 years’ appropriate experience post-registration with HPCSA (SA-qualified)

11 years for foreign-qualified practitioners

Knowledge & Skills:
-
Clinical knowledge and application of ACLS, ATLS, APLS
-
Understanding of relevant legislation and medical ethics
-
Clinical governance, patient safety, and litigation prevention

Good communication (verbal & written), analytical and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work under pressure and independently
Key Responsibilities:

Perform medical duties and manage patient care across departments
-
Provide outreach and support to surrounding facilities within the province
-
Participate in commuted overtime (compulsory)
-
Ensure adherence to clinical governance, legal, and regulatory compliance (HPCSA, OHSC, CMSA, FSDoH)
-
Conduct clinical audits, and monitor effectiveness indicators
-
Reduce medico-legal risks by maintaining ethical and professional clinical standards
-
Participate in ongoing training, quality improvement, and support initiatives
