Dis-Chem Pharmacies is building a talent pool of Casual Merchandisers for their stores across the Free State region. Being part of this strategic talent pool means candidates will be pre-screened and considered for future merchandising roles as they become available. While entry into the talent pool does not guarantee employment, it increases the likelihood of being selected for upcoming vacancies.
The Casual Merchandiser ensures that store shelves are fully stocked, neatly presented, and compliant with Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards, while supporting overall store operations. The role also includes providing friendly and professional customer service and assisting with stock management and merchandising displays.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management & Merchandising

Restock shelves to maximise sales and maintain full product ranges.

Pack stock delivered or pulled from the storeroom into correct areas promptly.

Rotate stock using FIFO principles and remove expired or damaged stock.

Ensure shelves and displays are neat, faced-up, well-stocked, and correctly priced.

Adhere to planograms, store layouts, and Dis-Chem merchandising standards.

Report out-of-stock items, low stock levels, and price discrepancies.

Assist with stock counts, stock files, and general stock-taking.

Mark items without barcodes clearly.
Store Support & Maintenance

Maintain store cleanliness and daily physical upkeep of shelves and displays.

Flatten and remove boxes after unpacking stock.

Assist with loading and off-loading of heavy stock items.

Manage and safeguard designated stock on the shop floor and in the storeroom.
Customer Service

Provide helpful, courteous, and professional assistance to customers.

Resolve customer stock queries and log out-of-stock requests.

Stay informed about new and existing products.
Team Support

Assist in training new staff members.

Report suspicious behaviour or policy violations.

Adhere to all SOPs, safety rules, and company policies.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
-
Grade 12 / Matric.
-
Up to 6 months’ retail experience.

Computer literate (MS Office).

Ability to work retail hours (weekends, holidays, extended hours).
Advantageous

1 year of retail experience.

Knowledge of FMCG and merchandising standards.

Ability to analyse ZMORE reports.
