Job Purpose
The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all meat products processed in the Deboning and Packing Department meet the company’s quality, hygiene, and safety standards. This role involves monitoring product quality throughout the deboning, packing, and dispatching stages to ensure compliance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and evaluate meat quality during the deboning and packing processes.
Ensure adherence to hygiene, food safety, and occupational health standards in all operational areas.
Check and record product temperatures and monitor cold chain integrity.
Verify the accuracy of packaging and labelling according to customer specifications.
Conduct routine visual inspections to detect contamination, defects, or deviations from quality standards.
Identify and report non-conformances, assisting in corrective and preventative actions.
Maintain hygiene and temperature compliance during product dispatch and loading.
Support the implementation of quality control systems and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications & Experience
Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
Relevant Certificate or Online Course in Quality Control, Meat Handling, or Food Safety (Non-negotiable)
Experience working in a deboning or abattoir environment (Essential)
Sound understanding of meat quality standards, food hygiene practices, and temperature control
Ability to work effectively in a cold, fast-paced production environment
Valid Driver’s Licence and own reliable transport

Work Environment
This position is based within the Deboning and Packing Department of an abattoir. The role requires working in a temperature-controlled environment and close collaboration with production, hygiene, and dispatch teams to maintain product quality and safety
