    Job Description

    The Product Readiness Engineer will support new vehicle model introductions by developing, maintaining, and validating technical publications, owner information, service literature, and other technical content.

    The successful candidate will help ensure that vehicle information is technically accurate, compliant with applicable requirements, suitable for the South African market, and available to dealers in time for new product launches.

    The role will also involve investigating technical issues, supporting dealer operations, coordinating engineering changes, and helping ensure that dealers are properly equipped for new vehicle introductions.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Product Readiness Engineer will be responsible for:

    • Developing and maintaining localised service information for the South African market.
    • Ensuring technical publications are accurate, compliant, and suitable for local requirements.
    • Validating technical information with relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensuring technical information is published accurately and within product launch deadlines.
    • Assessing engineering changes and new vehicle model introductions.
    • Updating service information in response to engineering changes and new products.
    • Monitoring technical content quality and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Using dealer feedback to identify and resolve technical information gaps.
    • Investigating and resolving dealer technical issues.
    • Implementing corrective actions within required timeframes.
    • Developing and validating market-specific service literature.
    • Supporting accurate in-vehicle information and technical documentation.
    • Contributing to cost reduction through effective repair solutions and accurate service information.
    • Supporting customer satisfaction by ensuring reliable and accessible technical information.
    • Coordinating special tool and equipment requirements for engineering changes and new model launches.
    • Helping ensure dealer readiness for new products and vehicle technologies.

    Requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must have a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following fields:

    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronic Engineering
    • Mechatronic Engineering
    • An equivalent automotive-related engineering qualification

    Work Experience

    Candidates should have:

    • At least 3 years of post-graduate experience.
    • Experience in automotive engineering.
    • Experience with vehicle diagnostics and technical analysis.
    • Strong problem-solving experience.
    • Experience supporting automotive products and new model introductions.
    • Experience investigating, diagnosing, and resolving vehicle-related technical issues.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of Volkswagen and Audi products.
    • Knowledge of vehicle systems and emerging automotive technologies.

    Technical and Behavioural Competencies

    The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

    • Strong technical analysis and problem-solving skills.
    • Technical writing and documentation development abilities.
    • Effective planning and coordination skills.
    • Ability to interpret German engineering drawings and technical data.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
    • Strong discipline and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
    • A proactive and professional approach to technical challenges.
