Job Title: Pharmacist Grade 1–3

Responsibilities:
Ensure continuous availability of essential medicines and health commodities across healthcare facilities
Oversee and manage procurement processes in compliance with regulatory guidelines
Coordinate both upstream and downstream procurement activities
Supervise and manage personnel within the procurement component
Implement risk mitigation strategies and maintain accurate record systems
Manage demand forecasting and commodity estimates
Implement Provincial Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee (PPTC) resolutions
Participate in ad-hoc committees and support departmental operational efficiency
Qualifications:
Matric (Senior Certificate)
BPharm degree
Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
Computer literacy
Proof of relevant experience
Grade 1: No experience required post-registration (SA qualified); 1 year required for certain foreign-qualified pharmacists
Grade 2: Minimum 5 years’ experience post-registration (SA qualified); 6 years for certain foreign-qualified candidates
Grade 3: Minimum 13 years’ experience post-registration (SA qualified); 14 years for certain foreign-qualified candidates
Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Knowledge of public sector pharmacy operations and legislative frameworks
Strong leadership, planning, and team coordination abilities

Grade 1: R848,862 – R960,948 per annum
Grade 2: R917,634 – R972,612 per annum
Grade 3: R1,001,349 – R1,062,183 per annum
