Introduction
UFS is seeking a dynamic and experienced Digital Content Specialist to manage and optimise digital content across its institutional web platforms. The role requires a highly organised individual with a blend of technical, editorial, and analytical expertise, aligned with global digital content and user experience best practices.
Purpose of the Role
To manage and publish content on UFS websites, ensuring clarity, consistency, SEO optimisation, and compliance with accessibility standards. The role supports digital engagement through content audits, multimedia curation, analytics, and collaborative web development efforts.
Key Responsibilities

Manage workflows and content publishing across UFS websites using the Communication and Marketing System.

Write and edit content in line with SEO and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).

Conduct website content audits and ensure compliance with UFS brand standards.

Contribute content to the UFS Newsdesk (Content Hub).

Support UX/UI improvements and basic web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

Curate and upload multimedia content (text, image, video).

Monitor and report on website analytics using GA4, Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders (faculties, ICT) and external partners on digital projects.

Benchmark global digital best practices and propose continuous improvements.
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in:

Communication

Multimedia
-
Web Development
-
Digital Marketing
-
Journalism or related field
-

At least 2 years of relevant experience in:

Digital content management
-
SEO writing
-
Technical digital content production
-
Recommendations (Preferred)

Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in a relevant field

Proficiency in:

CMS platforms
-
HTML, CSS, JavaScript

Web accessibility compliance

Experience in:

Higher education or complex web environments

API integrations, schema markup, Google Tag Manager
