The Department of Computer Science and Informatics, housed in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, is seeking a dynamic lecturer with strong teaching and research capabilities in the fields of Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering.

    Responsibilities:

    • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Software Engineering

    • Supervise honours students and co-supervise master’s students

    • Conduct research in one or more departmental focus areas:
      ▪ Business Intelligence and Text Mining
      ▪ Computer Science Education
      ▪ Eye-Tracking Applications
      ▪ Human-Computer Interaction and Extended Reality
      ▪ Digital Inclusion and Community Engagement in IT

    • Publish research outputs in accredited peer-reviewed journals

    • Contribute to curriculum development

    • Participate in community engagement activities

    • Undertake departmental administrative duties

    Qualifications:

    • Permanent Appointment: PhD (NQF Level 10) in Computer Science or Information Systems

    • Contract Appointment: Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in Computer Science or Information Systems with the expectation to complete a PhD within five years

    • Teaching experience in undergraduate programming, especially C# (second year) and database programming

    • Record of conference presentations (poster or oral)

    • Evidence of research output ready for journal publication

    • Strong academic record

    Recommendations:

    • Specialisation in Database Development and/or Software Engineering
