Responsibilities:
Conduct route assessments and determine optimal travel paths for safety and efficiency
Stay updated on alternative routes in case of roadblocks or emergencies
Liaise with law enforcement and emergency services ahead of official trips
Maintain high vigilance and report suspicious activity during executive travel
Perform security assessments of event venues and report safety concerns
Collaborate with host security teams and remain at events for their full duration
Support security operations across all UFS campuses, including QwaQwa and South Campuses
Assist in student protest management and conduct security vulnerability assessments
Lead and oversee Protection Services Ambassadors
Collect intelligence related to safety, stability, and crime
Perform additional security duties as needed
Qualifications:
NQF Level 6 (National Diploma) or NQF Level 7 (Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma) in Security Management, Policing, or Criminology
Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in security operations, intelligence, or investigations
Valid PSIRA Grade B registration
Valid South African Code 8 Driving Licence
Advanced/Defensive Driving Certificate or willingness to obtain within 6 months
First Aid Level 3 Certificate or willingness to obtain within 6 months
Recommended Skills and Experience:
Computer literacy
Experience in the higher education sector
VIP/Executive Protection certification and experience
Firearm competency under Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000
Experience conducting physical security assessments
Familiarity with UFS security systems and protocols

Benefits:
Annual salary: R447,323.31–R562,750.48 (depending on qualifications and experience)
