Job Overview
Fidelity Services Group is looking for an Installation Assistant Technician to join its Fidelity ADT division in Bloemfontein.
The successful candidate will assist Installation Technicians with the installation of alarm and security systems, including cabling, drilling, mounting equipment, connecting detectors and control panels, powering up systems and conducting walk-tests.
This position is suited to candidates with practical electrical or electronic knowledge and at least one year of experience as a Wireman.
Job Description
The Installation Assistant Technician will provide technical support during security system installations and ensure that equipment and cabling are correctly installed according to company standards.
The role may involve working with alarm systems, Intercom, CCTV and Access Control systems, as well as performing drilling, equipment mounting, cabling and system testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the technician with the installation of alarm and security equipment.
- Assist with the removal of old equipment from clients’ premises.
- Run new cables and apply glue where required.
- Drill holes and mount detectors, panels, contacts, lights and other equipment.
- Inform the technician of any equipment or tool shortfalls and limitations.
- Advise the technician on the cabling required for installations.
- Assist with user functions and customer handovers.
- Connect detectors and alarm control panels where required.
- Power up and walk-test alarm systems.
- Assist with installations involving CCTV, Intercom and Access Control systems.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicles and client premises after installations.
- Work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Wireman.
- Practical electrical or electronic knowledge will be advantageous.
- PSIRA Grade C registration will be advantageous.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of an installation team.
