    Project Purpose

    The purpose of this quotation is to appoint three suitable suppliers to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniforms to SANBI facilities across the Northern and Eastern provinces.

    The appointed service providers will ensure the reliable supply, availability, and delivery of protective clothing and uniforms required by SANBI employees working in botanical gardens, conservation centres, zoological facilities, and operational environments.

    SANBI Facilities Covered

    The supply requirements apply to the following centres:

    • Free State National Botanical Garden (FSNBG)
    • KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden (KZNNBG)
    • Lowveld National Botanical Garden (LNBG)
    • National Zoological Garden (NZG)
    • Mokopane Biodiversity Conservation Centre (MBCC)
    • Mphaphuli Cycad Nature Reserve (MCNR)
    • Thohoyandou National Botanical Garden (TNBG)

    Scope of Supply

    1. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

    The appointed supplier must provide PPE items according to SANBI specifications, including:

    Protective Clothing

    • Two-piece overalls:
      • Poly/cotton or denim material.
      • Various sizes.
      • Approved colours and specifications.
    • Work T-shirts:
      • Rib tape design.
      • Various sizes and colours.
      • Suitable for operational work environments.

    Safety Footwear

    Supply safety footwear including:

    • Safety boots with steel toe caps.
    • Impact resistance rating of 200J.
    • Various sizes.
    • Suitable for conservation, maintenance, and outdoor activities.

    Hand Protection

    Supply:

    • Protective work gloves.
    • Household reusable gloves.
    • Gloves suitable for different operational tasks.

    Head and Face Protection

    Supply:

    • Safety helmets.
    • Helmets with visors.
    • Ear protection attachments.
    • Safety glasses.
    • Face protection equipment.

    Respiratory Protection

    Supply:

    • Dust masks.
    • Respirators.
    • Replaceable filter systems.
    • Protective respiratory equipment suitable for workplace hazards.

    Forestry and Outdoor Safety Equipment

    Supply:

    • Chainsaw protective chaps.
    • Shin guards.
    • Gumboots.
    • Other safety accessories required by SANBI.

    2. Uniform Supply

    The supplier must provide uniforms according to SANBI’s detailed specifications, including:

    • Correct materials and designs.
    • Required colours and branding specifications.
    • Appropriate sizing ranges.
    • Consistent quality standards.
    • Replacement and additional uniform items when requested.

    3. Delivery Requirements

    The appointed supplier must:

    • Deliver PPE and uniforms to SANBI locations as required.
    • Ensure timely delivery according to purchase orders.
    • Provide accurate delivery documentation.
    • Ensure products arrive in good condition.
    • Manage transportation and logistics costs.

    Pricing must include:

    • Product costs.
    • VAT.
    • Transport.
    • Labour.
    • Packaging.
    • Any other related supply costs.

    4. Product Compliance and Quality Requirements

    All PPE supplied must:

    • Meet required occupational safety standards.
    • Be suitable for the intended work environment.
    • Comply with relevant certification requirements.
    • Include CE certification where applicable.
    • Be new and unused.
    • Meet SANBI quality requirements.

    The supplier may be required to provide samples of:

    • Overalls.
    • Safety boots.
    • Gloves.
    • Helmets.
    • Masks.
    • Other PPE items.

    Samples must be approved before final contract appointment.

    Supplier Requirements

    Suppliers must demonstrate:
