Job Description
This role focuses on creating and managing visual communication for the university’s library services.
You will design print and digital materials, support marketing campaigns, and ensure that all visuals align with the university’s branding and identity.
The position also involves working closely with teams to improve user experience, promote library services, and enhance engagement through creative design solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design & Content Creation
- Design posters, brochures, banners, newsletters, and other marketing materials
- Create graphics for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Develop digital content for online platforms
Web & Digital Support
- Design website graphics and multimedia content
- Assist with layout of digital publications and newsletters
- Improve user experience for library digital platforms
Branding & Visual Identity
- Ensure consistency in colours, fonts, logos, and overall design
- Maintain and strengthen the library’s brand identity
- Develop templates and visual styles for recurring content
Media & Content Management
- Take and manage event photographs
- Upload and organise media content
- Assist in scheduling and monitoring social media posts
Collaboration & Communication
- Work with library staff and university teams
- Support academic programmes with visual materials
- Incorporate feedback to improve designs
Research & Innovation
- Conduct user feedback research to improve designs
- Stay updated with design trends
- Contribute creative ideas for campaigns and projects
Quality Control
- Ensure all designs are professional and error-free
- Oversee quality of printed materials
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree / Advanced Diploma / B.Tech / Postgraduate Certificate (NQF Level 7)
OR - 3-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Graphic Design or related field
- At least 1 year of relevant graphic design experience
Recommended Skills & Experience
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Strong typography, layout, and design skills
- Social media and digital marketing experience
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge
- Photography or videography skills
- Experience in higher education (advantage)
